Who we are
Bridging Today (“we”, “us”) publishes BridgingToday, a news site for the UK bridging finance market. We are the controller of the personal data described in this policy, which means we decide how and why it is used.
What we collect
We only collect what you give us, plus a small amount of technical information when you visit.
- Newsletter. Your email address, name, firm and the type of business you work in.
- Advertising enquiries. Your name, work email, company, sector and message.
- Story submissions. The story and picture you send, and your name and contact details so we can follow up.
- Reporting an issue or submitting a deal. Your message and, if you give one, a contact email.
- When you visit. A count of how many times each story is opened (not tied to you), and the technical information any web server receives, such as your IP address and browser type. See the cookies policy below for what is stored on your device.
How we use it
- To send you the newsletter, if you have signed up.
- To reply to enquiries, and to review and publish stories and deals you send us.
- To look into problems you report and to keep the site secure.
- To understand which stories are read, so we can show the most popular ones and improve the site.
Our legal basis
We send the newsletter because you have asked us to (your consent), and you can withdraw that at any time. We answer enquiries and review submissions because you have asked us to, and we count readership and keep the site secure because it is in our legitimate interest to run a safe, useful publication. Where we rely on legitimate interests we make sure it does not override your rights.
How long we keep it
We keep newsletter details until you unsubscribe. We keep enquiries, submissions and reports for as long as we need them to deal with them and to keep a sensible record, and then delete them. Anonymous story-view counts are kept as ongoing statistics.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask us for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, to restrict how we use it, to move it, or to stop using it where we rely on legitimate interests. You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time using the link in any email we send.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk. We would always like the chance to put things right first.
Children
BridgingToday is written for professionals and is not aimed at anyone under 18.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of the page shows when it last changed.
What we use
Everything below is needed to run the site or to remember a choice you have made. We do not currently use advertising, tracking or analytics cookies.
| Name | Type | What it does | Lasts |
|---|---|---|---|
| bt_admin_session | Cookie | Keeps BridgingToday staff signed in to the Desk. It is never set for ordinary readers. | 8 hours |
| bridgingtoday:cookie-consent | Local storage | Remembers the choice you made on the cookie notice so we don't ask again. | Until you clear it |
| bridgingtoday:recent-searches | Local storage | Remembers your recent searches on this device so you can repeat them. It is never sent to us. | Until you clear it |
| viewed:… | Session storage | Notes that you have opened a story in this visit, so reloading the page doesn't count it twice. | Until you close the tab |
Advertisers and other sites
The adverts on BridgingToday are served by us, not by an ad network. If you click one you will leave our site, and the advertiser's own site may use cookies we don't control, so check its policy.
Your choices
You can change your answer to the cookie notice at any time with the button below. You can also block or delete cookies and site storage in your browser settings, although parts of the site may then not remember your preferences.
